Why is the Golden State Rebates program closing?
After four successful years of helping California residents improve their energy efficiency, the Golden State Rebates (GSR) program ended on July 31, 2026 and will not continue into 2027. This decision was made by the supporting utilities and the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).
GSR is a statewide program funded by California utility customers and administered by SDG&E, with support from PG&E, SoCalGas, and SCE under the guidance of the CPUC.
Like many energy efficiency programs, GSR follows a planned lifecycle and is being sunset as part of the utilities’ and CPUC’s evolving priorities for future offerings.
Can I still redeem an unused Golden State Rebates coupon?
No. All Golden State Rebates retail coupons expired as of August 1st and can no longer be redeemed.
Can contractors receive an incentive through participating distributors after July 31, 2026?
The program is not currently accepting submissions from distributors. Feel free to contact your participating distributor or GSR program contact for more information.
